HeadlinerTracey & Jim Thomson
Tracey & Jim Thomson thought they had it figured out. Of course Jim would support Tracey leaving the corporate world to build something of her own, that was never the question. But support can mean a hundred different things, and they never actually talked about which one. After a few pivots, Tracey found her footing coaching those navigating mid-life and retirement. The road there was messier than either of them expected: skipped conversations, missed warning signs, and the quiet ways building a business can put distance between two people who love each other.
Featured SpeakerAndrea Mishio
Andrea Mishio wears many hats: teacher, mother, wife, and now, entrepreneur in the making. But it's the hat she's worn the longest that gives her a perspective most business owners rarely hear: what it's actually like to love someone who is building a dream. If you're building something, chances are someone at home is building alongside you whether they signed up for it or not.
Featured SpeakerKris Marks
Kris Marks is back, and this time he's going even deeper. Building a business on passion is one thing. Building one with purpose? That costs something different entirely. Kris knows the missed birthdays, the friendships that quietly faded, and the moments you can't get back, and he's not here to sugarcoat any of it.

What first-time visitors say
Audience feedback
I walked into that room not sure I could talk about what happened. I walked out lighter than I had felt in two years. Whatever you are carrying about a deal that went sideways, this is the room for it.

Past Speaker · Season 3
Telling 200 people the things I usually hide from myself was the most honest hour I have spent as a leader. Real coaching does not start until you stop performing, and Fuckup Nights makes that easier than I expected.

Current Sponsors
The crew making this possible
Every quarter, a small group of partners helps us keep the lights on. They believe in the stories told from this stage, and we believe in them right back.
CVL Engineers
CVL Engineers is proud to be a main sponsor of Fuckup Nights YEG, because if anyone gets the value of learning from failure, it's engineers. Driven by the mission to Build Cool Shit, CVL is a team of problem-solvers who believe the best projects come from bold ideas, honest mistakes, and the guts to try again. They show up for Edmonton's creative and technical community because great things don't get built by playing it safe. Here's to the fuckups that move us forward.
Peace of Mind AI
We work with the Fuckup Nights YEG team behind the scenes. We built the site you're on, the backend that runs the operation, and the AI features that handle the busywork so the team can focus on what matters on stage. That's the playbook for every POM AI client. Founders come to us drowning in tools, spreadsheets, and tech debt. We rip out what isn't pulling its weight and replace it with one custom system that buys back hours every week. Less tech overwhelm. More room for the work that started the company.

FAQ
Questions? We've got answers
Fuckup Nights is a global movement where entrepreneurs and business leaders share their stories of failure openly and honestly. Started in Mexico City in 2012, it's now in 260+ cities across 70+ countries. The YEG chapter brings this experience to Edmonton.
Doors open at 5:30pm for light networking with donuts and beverages. At 6:15pm we kick things off with three speakers sharing their failure stories, each followed by Q&A. There's an intermission for refreshments, a panel discussion, and networking until 10pm.
Tickets range from $20 to $50 depending on the event. This includes the full evening of speakers, networking, donuts, and beverages. Additional refreshments are available for purchase.
Entrepreneurs, founders, small business owners, startup employees, corporate professionals, creatives, freelancers, students, investors, and anyone curious about the real side of entrepreneurship. This is an 18+ event.
Venue varies based on need and availability. We aim to stick with one venue per calendar year so the community has a consistent home. Our current venue is the Bison Lodge in Edmonton.
Yes. The #1 requirement is a real, business-based failure (not a humble brag or a polished success story in disguise). Visit our Speaker Application page to submit your story, or reach out directly at yegfvckupnights@gmail.com to share your story with us.
